What customers say?

“ This is my favorite sushi of the WORLD. I have visited over 50 sushi restaurants across the United States (Minnesota, DC, Virginia, Ohio, Miami Flordia), the Dominican Republic and Brazil(SC, Curitiba, POA)(check my Google maps profile), and in porto alegre I have been to Takedo (easily R$300/person, downtown) and Nihon Kaiten (Teresopolis). Both of those are 5 stars, and Maru gets 6 stars. Everything fried was very good, much better than other restaurants. The "executive" was a fantastic variety of perfect tempura, perfect traditional sample rolls, and small yakisoba. The tempura ice cream tastes like German Pie (Torta Alema) and is amazing too. The music is so calm and tranquil I thought I was in a zen retreat, or in Avatar the Last Airbender Air Temple. But it sounds perfect. The decor is good if not a bit minimal. Some RGB lights could do well for them. I dont know how Maru doesn't have a Michelin star. But in time, they will get there, and they were great for value. ”

“ Great authentic Japanese food. Love the idea of being small and delivering quality food and service. Just would like to see new dishes and a variety of imported sake. ”

- Gil Marcondes -

“ Like the Executive menu. Super well-served! Delicious sushi, fresh fish. Excellent service. I highly recommend it. ”

- Beatriz Valle Martins -

“ My favorite restaurant. Great service, a great atmosphere, and sensational food. Both the executive lunch special and the salmon combo are amazing. Everything is made with great care and attention to detail, and the food arrives quickly. I just don't really like the dessert, but honestly, it's not necessary with a lunch like that. ”

“ *Restaurant only accepts reservations* We visited Sushi Maru's new location today, and this new space is undoubtedly even better. Previously, the restaurant was located on Avenida Ceará. The location is undoubtedly one of the best new features; the new space is now very close to the Praia de Belas shopping mall, so it's possible to park your car in the mall's parking lot on Marcílio Dias and walk to the restaurant. The new location is much more spacious, with more tables; it's definitely much better now. We ordered the executive menu, which includes sunomono, some sushi, yakisoba, and tempura – a great option to try the restaurant. The total for the two executive menus with two bottles of water came to R$ 171.00, a very fair price for the quality of the food, service, and atmosphere. For those unfamiliar with the restaurant, the service is always excellent. Everyone who serves you will make you feel at home, without exception. They are all very kind and polite. I recommend checking out this new spot near Praia de Belas. ”

“ It's an okay experience! However, it fell far short of expectations. The waiter was disorganized, didn't offer us wine to taste, served us directly, and even served my husband first! Few options on the menu, nothing special. The environment was clean, but nothing out of the ordinary. In my opinion, it's not worth the investment. ”

“ Excellent quality, I really liked it. Good service. ”

“ Eating at Maru is the perfect experience. Sensational food, impeccable service. Beautiful, clean, and cozy atmosphere. My favorites are the Yakisoba and sweet gyoza. ”
